Westlake

 

Westlake is an independent suburban city located just six miles west of Downtown Austin. Also known as West Lake Hills, this beautiful community is perfectly positioned between all the amenities of Central Austin and the natural splendor of Texas Hill Country. The city covers an area of 3.7 miles and has around 1,000 homes. Many of these properties rise into the hills, offering captivating views across the Colorado River to the Austin skyline. This peaceful community boasts award-winning schools along with the hugely successful Westlake Chaparrals high school football team. This small city also offers a good choice of restaurants and boutique retailers plus access to sprawling Hill Country greenspace.

Westlake is an affluent community with a relaxed, family-friendly vibe. The highly rated Eanes Independent School District plays a significant role in attracting young families to Westlake. Retailers at the Village include the unique apparel and home décor boutique The Tree House and a H-E-B supermarket for grocery shopping. County Line offers delicious Texas-style barbecue and an outdoor patio with sweeping views over the surrounding Hill Country scenery. Westlake is the only city fully covered by the highly-rated Eanes Independent School District. As well as providing excellent public education, Westlake High School provides the town with lots of local pride when its football team takes to the gridiron for Friday Night Lights. Numerous former Westlake Chaparrals players have gone on to NFL success, including Super Bowl MVPs Nick Foles and Drew Brees. 

 

Westlake also offers lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation. To the north, Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve extends over 227 acres of beautiful Hill Country scenery within the Balcones Canyonlands. To the south, Barton Creek Wilderness Park features scenic hiking trails and a rushing creek with waterfalls. On the Colorado River to Westlake’s east, Lake Austin is a popular destination for boating and fishing.

West Lake Hills is served by the Eanes Independent School District, which is one of the best-ranked districts in Texas.
